Photos to go with not yet written posts

We haven't had the time or patience to deal with blogger, so here are some photos that go with the posts we haven't made yet.

A typical 3 legged Florence lamp post

Part of a Mosaic tile floor discovered underneath the Duomo in Florence, from a 12th century church underneath

From the patio of the Duomo museum, in a driving rainstorm

We stopped at the local market on the way into town (Florence)

Just your run of the mill keep off the grass sign

Reflecting on our walk along the Arno river

Florence, from a gap in the trees

The baptistery. The coolest building in Florence

A deeply moving sculpture portraying the plight of immigrants, in St Peter's square

We circumlocuted an entire country today: the back side of Vatican city

Trevi fountain was jam packed: only the pool in front of the fountain was tourist free.
Still walking around Vatican city.  The way in must be getting close

Rest Stop on the way to Radda

Mary showing off a classic Chianti view, somewhere near Radda

View from our window in Radda, waiting for the rain to stop so we can start our bike ride

Just another villa in Chianti, near Radda

L'Eroica is a big annual cycling event. The sign points to a big uphill.  We went down this one (but up the one on the other side)

Lovely upscale dinner in Radda.
Not shown: the garlicky vegetable, fresh from the garden, that is somewhere between spinach and chard.  Eaten before we could document it's existence. Yum.

Half way on our Sunday ride. San Gimignano, with Mary sporting her new kit.

Riding into Siena - looks like we'll beat at the rain today

First hint of the building clouds, after at cool clear day of riding

San Gimignano

Siena

Siena: clouds still building

Siena: it started raining soon after

Spring flowers along the ancient aqueduct into Spello

Looking downstream inside the now abandoned aqueduct.  Built by the Romans in 200ish A.D.  it was used as the water supply for Spello until 1944 when it was bombed by the allies in the war [reference]
Gotta have water in here somewhere!

The outside of the aqueduct, covered in red poppies

Looking back at Spello from the lower slopes of Mt. Subasio
